AP Chemistry Chapter 8 Notes - What You Need to Know

AP Chemistry Chapter 8 Notes - What You Need to KnowThe first four AP Chemistry chapters are the same, so you should feel at ease with this chapter. In fact, it can be very useful to review the previous chapters to help you understand what is coming up. The last two chapters are either the same or you should be able to figure out by your research. Even if they are not the same, the material will still help you get a good understanding of how to solve certain problems in the end.In a lot of cases, this chapter could be the beginning of an interesting and worthwhile science experience. At first, you won't have any idea what you're supposed to do. However, as you get more comfortable, you'll find that you're able to explore and use these concepts to make important progress in your classes. Make sure that you do it right the first time. There is no time like the present to apply all that you've learned. Before beginning your book, don't waste time doing practice problems. This chapter tea ches you about solving problem types in the laboratory environment, but that's about all that you should know. It's best that you do lots of practice. To be able to solve problems in your book, you need to be able to understand and apply the concepts you learn.Although you may find it very helpful, don't give in to the temptation to solve math problems when you need to take tests. You might end up wasting a lot of time and make your mistakes even more costly. Don't take a test without taking enough practice tests to study for your exam.Make sure that you understand all of the content that you learn in chapter 8, especially the topic on chemistry. Don't assume that you'll get everything you need to do. Write down every concept you learn and make sure that you follow it all the way through.Even if you don't think that you'll need a lab project this semester, it's always good to work on one or two before you go to take the final. This is because you'll learn a lot in lab projects, even if you don't do them during the semester. You should work on your paper as soon as possible, so that you don't waste too much time while studying for the test.Try to make sure that you study for a good amount of time each week. You can do this by taking advantage of the advice that AP Chemistry students give to their classmates. Always make sure that you learn from every single piece of advice that you can. This way, you will be able to solve problems faster and get more ideas for your lab project.

Summer at AJ Academic Tutoring

Summer at AJ Academic Tutoring The summer is the perfect time to get a jump start on the school year or engage with interesting academic material. At AJ Tutoring, we are delighted to offer a variety of summer tutoring options to meet the unique needs and goals of each student.Did you struggle in a course this year? Preparing for your first AP or Honors course? Struggling with test-taking skills? Needing an extra challenge? Let our team of academic experts craft a tailored 1-on-1 plan or simply choose a course from the list we’ve created here.To help imagine the possibilities, read on to find a few examples of what can be done over the summer.Budding Biologist Preparing for the Next Next LevelLana really enjoyed biology as a freshman. So much in fact, that she studied some of the units more in depth on her own, watched documentaries about biology online, and is even considering majoring in the subject in college! Though she felt confident with her understanding of the regular curriculum, her sophomore friends alw ays talked about how tough the AP curriculum was. As a sophomore, she’ll be taking the AP Biology course and, in May, the AP Biology exam. At AJ Tutoring, our biology experts are highly knowledgeable about the challenging but standardized and predictable AP curriculum. Many students look to bridge their understanding of key biology concepts ahead of the AP course. We would suggest that Lana meet with a biology tutor on a weekly basis to gain a foreknowledge of the curriculum and start to introduce crucial ideas that she will learn in class. Click here to learn more about our AP Biology Summer Bridge!Rising Junior Juggling Challenging Subjects and Test PrepJay loved sophomore year, but felt overwhelmed at times. With water polo practice, chess club meetings, and AP English Language assignments, Jay rarely had a spare moment. Next year, he’ll have to take the PSAT, SAT, and ACT. He should also probably start thinking about which colleges he’ll apply toThe extracurricular engagem ents won’t let up: in fact, he’ll be on varsity next year and probably even more involved than this year! What’s more, he’s planning on taking three AP courses: AP Chemistry, AP English Literature, and AP Environmental Science. Sounds like it’s going to be a busy year!To relieve some stress for his future self, we’d suggest that Jay select a couple of upcoming classes or tests and start to explore them this summer. For example, Jay might meet with a tutor regularly as part of an AP Chemistry Summer Bridge so that he feels really prepared for fall semester. In addition, Jay might sign up for a PSAT preparation to build a foundation of key test-taking skills so that SAT and ACT prep in the spring will be less of a time commitment. Middle School Athlete Building Math ConfidenceJessie is a talented soccer player who practices the sport just about every day of the year. Over the summer, it’s all about workouts, training, and tournaments. Because of this, there’s not much time left for tutoring, and what time there is depends on a constantly-changing sports schedule! In 7th grade, math was a serious challenge. Though she worked hard and spent extra time reviewing her introductory algebra lessons, some of the concepts just couldn’t stick. Jessie did well enough in 7th grade, but she wants to do even better next year and feel more confident.Because AJ Tutoring specializes in 1-on-1 tutoring, we can create a customized plan and schedule to help Jessie build confidence and competence with math this summer. We’d recommend that she meet with a math expert each week for an hour and that she also fit in a bit of extra work before the next session. That said, the session times could be scheduled flexibly, and the homework assignments can be planned with empathy and to match Jessie’s calendar. If Jessie is travelling for most of the summer, it might make sense to hone in on math for a couple weeks as part of an intensive middle school math boot camp.No mat ter your starting point, AJ Tutoring is here to help! 3 Top Comedians to Follow as a College Student

3 Top Comedians to Follow as a College Student pixabay.com   And then there are good old comedians people who rely on their own sense of humor to get a chuckle, a snicker, or even a full-on belly laugh out of their audience. If you’re in the mood to be entertained, check out the following list of top comedians you should keep up with. Louis CK One of the most well-known comedians out there now, Louis CK began his career in the 1990s and early 2000s writing for comedians including David Letterman, Conan O’Brien, Dana Carvey, and Chris Rock. He’s frequently performed stand-up on shows such as “Lopez Tonight,” “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” and “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” Now, he even has his own official Netflix site, where you can watch his stand-up comedy special that was released on April 4 of this year. Directed by and starring himself, the movie is “witty” and “irreverent” according to the Netflix site, where Louis CK “muses on religion, eternal love, giving dogs drugs, email fights, teachers, and more in a live performance from Washington, D.C.” With a unique, cutting sense of humor, Louis CK’s stand-up is bound to elicit some raised eyebrows and a lot of guilty (or not guilty) laughter. If you enjoy this sort of sharp, witty humor, definitely check out some of Louis CK’s material when you need a break. You certainly won’t regret it. Kevin Hart A comedian who began his career in 2001, Kevin Hart mainly deals with topics on African Americans, racism, American culture, parenting, and self-deprecation, just to name a few. His career really took off starting in 2006, when he released his first stand-up album, I’m A Little Grown Man, and then a second album entitled Seriously Funny four years later. In 2011, his album  Laugh at My Pain  was especially successful and dealt with his personal life experiences. As someone who previously didn’t know much about Kevin Hart or watch much stand-up comedy in general, I found myself laughing uncontrollably after just a few minutes of listening to one of Hart’s many comedy routines about family. No matter what type of comedy you’re into, you’ll most likely find something (or many things) to laugh about while watching Hart perform. You can turn to him for comic relief when you desperately need a break from the monotony of everyday life. Stephen Colbert A bit different from the other comedians mentioned above, Stephen Colbert primarily performs deadpan comedy on subjects such as American politics and culture. Since 2015, he has hosted The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, a late-night TV talk show on CBS. If you’re interested in politics or at least enjoy finding the humor in politics, Colbert may be a good choice for you. Especially with many college students becoming increasingly involved in and educated about American politics, Colbert’s subject matter is bound to provide a fresh new perspective for people to chuckle at. Plus, if you appreciate dry humor, Colbert is a great option to go with. In the midst of everyday stress, having a few high-quality comedians to watch can be a bright spot in your day. Even if it’s just for 10 minutes here and there, you can find something to laugh and smile about to temporarily lift your mood. Just make sure to curb the amount of time you spend watching these comedians, so as not to get too addicted … and you’ll be good.

This Ballerina Applies Discipline And Perseverance On And Off The Stage

This Ballerina Applies Discipline And Perseverance On And Off The Stage This Ballerina Applies Discipline And Perseverance On And Off The Stage Asmita, 11-years-old, Math Level K, Reading Program Completer “Practice means to perform, over and over again in the face of all obstacles, some act of vision, of faith, of desire. Practice is a means of inviting the perfection desired.”â€" Martha Graham, American Modern Dancer and Choreographer At a young age, Asmita discovered the art of dance through ballet. Ballet could arguably be the most demanding form of dance â€" requiring a high level of discipline from ballerinas. They must maintain strength and flexibility to master techniques like grande allegro (big leaps), turnouts for clean footwork, and port de bras (movement of the arms). Asmita has remained disciplined in her practice and it shows when she’s on stage performing â€" proving to be a graceful and strong ballerina. She has found that since enrolling in Kumon, she has become increasingly more disciplined with everything she does. The key to her success? Practice, practice, practice. “Kumon has given me a sense of discipline that helps me with every aspect of life, including ballet,” said Asmita. “Outside of the classroom, dance is definitely my biggest passion. I’ve learned to never give up even when things get tough for me. My perseverance has helped me master some of the most challenging techniques in ballet through daily practice.” Asmita’s journey in Kumon began when she was just 4-years-old and has since transformed into being an independent learner. Before entering middle school, Asmita successfully completed the Kumon Reading Program. She can say she has already analyzed notable pieces of literature that are typically covered in high school, like William Golding’s Lord of the Flies and Oscar Wilde’s The Importance of Being Earnest. In the Kumon Math Program, she is currently working above grade level on concepts like exponential equations and higher degree functions. Having gained an academic edge over her peers, she is now able to help her classmates that are having trouble with certain concepts in school. Asmita has even found joy in learning and takes every challenge she faces as a learning experience. When she is not leaping across the stage in a ballet recital, she also has a passion for Indian classical dance and gymnastics. When we asked Asmita about her future aspirations she said, “I want to become a pediatric endocrinologist when I grow up. Two years ago, I was diagnosed with type one diabetes. I feel that if I become an endocrinologist, I can really help children who are being treated for diabetes and make a connection with my patients.” With Asmita’s unwavering perseverance and discipline, she will be able to achieve her dreams of one day becoming a pediatric endocrinologist. Asmita’s hard work and discipline didn’t go unnoticed, as she was one of 55 students selected to attend the 2018 Kumon Student Conference in Calgary, Canada. We had the opportunity to speak to Asmita about her Kumon journey. How has Kumon helped you inside of the classroom? Kumon has helped me so much in school. Since I’ve been enrolled, I have been receiving better grades and master concepts a lot faster! How has Kumon helped you outside of the classroom? Outside of the classroom, I have been able to manage my time and persevere through challenging moments. Asmita shakes hands with Kumon North America president Mino Tanabe What is the most beneficial thing you’ve learned in Kumon? The most beneficial thing I’ve learned in Kumon has been that it’s not important to just solve a problem in hopes of it being correct. It’s far more important to understand the problem and solve it properly, even if it’s the difference between you getting the answer right or wrong. If you could sum up your Kumon experience in one word, what would it be? Extraordinary. What do you enjoy most about Kumon? I really enjoy being able to learn at my own pace and one that is right for me. I feel like I am mastering concepts a lot faster and can advance. What did it mean to you attending the Student Conference? Attending the Student Conference was like a dream come true for me. I was able to connect with other Kumon Students who were just like me. Whether students are memorizing formulas they havent worked on in a while or grasping new concepts, its important to improve skills to get as many points as possible on the SAT exam. The more students practice their math skills, and the sooner they get started, the more likely they are to be able to improve their score on the math portion of this life-changing exam our private San Diego SAT tutoring will help you improve your score. 1. Work on multi-step problems Many students struggle with multi-step issues because they make an error somewhere in the calculation chain. If a student makes even one wrong calculation, their ultimate answer will be incorrect. Its important for test prep students to figure out where they went wrong and correct that particular step. After this, many students fine that multi-step problems are not as hard as they thought. A test prep tutor can help students break the math down into different parts and help the student achieve consistent Improvement (READ: 4 Reasons to Focus on San Diego SAT Tutoring Now). 2. Identify error patterns Another essential element of SAT math is to identify patterns of error. Individual students tend to make the same mistake or series of mistakes over and over again, something that can cause them to lose a lot of points on the exam. Alternately, if they figure out where they went wrong students can end up getting a ton of points just by fixing one or two common errors. It’s important for students to talk with their teacher or tutor to identify their error patterns and then work on fixing them well in advance of the big day. 3. Review old formulas Test prep students often discover they have to do the math they havent worked on for a couple of years. This can be frustrating because its math they already know but have put the back of their mind as theyre learning new concepts. Its essential for test prep students to review old formulas on a regular basis even if its a small part of their SAT study. Students should also review formulas in the days leading up to the exam, so the information is fresh in their minds. 4. Increase speed and accuracy Because the SAT has a strict time limit, its also essential for students to work on speed and accuracy. They need to focus on problem identification, learn what the question is asking for, and practice doing their computations as quickly as they can while still achieving the correct answer. This is something students can start out practicing in their tutoring sessions but should also work on extensively in their self-study. The more practice a student has, the more likely they are to be quick and efficient when theyre taking the actual exam. Need help prepping for your SAT? BMCC Free Online Tutoring

BMCC Free Online TutoringDo you need a second chance at an excellent degree? Maybe you have found out that you will not be able to afford to get a traditional college education. If this is the case, you may be interested in BMCC free online tutoring. In fact, this online schooling opportunity is available for both adults and children, and there are many online schools and universities that offer BMCC free online tutoring. While BMCC tutors do not need to possess a college degree, some individuals simply prefer to be tutored by someone who does have such a qualification. There are many online programs that can offer tutoring, either through traditional classroom sessions or through chat sessions. Chat sessions with live, online tutors allows one to take the class and the tutors can be personal if they wish.Students often take classes at local colleges. This can help students to meet others who are interested in their field of study and to have the opportunity to get some firsthand know ledge about this area. Some institutions are more than willing to mentor their students in the course of their studies. These mentors can sometimes offer the student some extra benefits, such as paying for tuition fees or offering room and board when the student travels abroad. Not all institutions that offer BMCC free online tutoring are accredited. It is important to check whether the tutoring is actually being offered from a reputable institution. When people are taking courses at community colleges or universities, they are usually taking them for free, but they do need to pay for books and supplies. This is not true when students enroll in an accredited online program, as the learning materials are used at no cost.In many cases, it is easy to find an online course that is free or even has a fee. It is important to choose a reputable university that offers courses that are comparable to the ones at the collegiate level. Most colleges and universities are able to offer programs fo r any age group, so it is important to find one that will be of benefit to your needs. Not all online schools offer the same courses, so it is important to compare to ensure that the institution is delivering on what it promises. While there are some schools that provide the facility of online classes, many others are much more hands-on. These schools are often more affordable, but it is important to ensure that they also offer the very best possible online education. There are many online universities and colleges, many of which provide highly structured instruction and tutoring. Other online schools are more focused on preparing their students for the workplace. While some schools and universities provide online courses, others prefer to offer them on campus. While this option is not always convenient, it is definitely preferable. In most cases, the majority of online education schools will also charge by the class, so students need to compare all of their options in order to find t he best fit for their educational needs.

Tutoring a Student in Math

Tutoring a Student in MathTutoring a student in math is often necessary for many reasons. This may be due to them having academic or job-related difficulties, in which case tutoring can help. There are also other reasons that a tutor can provide for to help the student, such as assisting with learning new methods, providing extra help when it is needed and arranging tests.Tutoring a student in math is not necessarily for an individual who has strong math skills, as many people require tutoring for a variety of reasons. Some students simply do not know their own abilities, some have skills that are not being used or are not progressing, and others have weaknesses that hinder their progress. The results of this can be stressful, as the student's lack of self-confidence can cause problems at home, school and work. It is often beneficial to have a tutor in the classroom to assist the student so that they know what is expected of them. This is particularly helpful in situations where the s tudent has the skills and experience, but not necessarily math skills. A tutor can be extremely useful in helping a student understand how to apply themselves in the math class. Teachers can then give them specific attention when they need it. In these cases, getting extra help will allow the student to learn more quickly than would be possible on their own.Parents and teachers will often choose to tutor their child in math, in order to make them a better student. They may have experienced failure in mathematics, and that failure will normally create a problem within the family. That is why it is important to ensure that the child has someone else to talk to, even if they have struggled in maths. This is to protect the family and to ensure that their child will graduate high and go on to college, university or work. As well as just helping the student learn, the tutor will also help the student deal with any difficulties that may arise in the class. Many teachers will hire a tutor to come into the classroom and provide support for the student. They may have had a difficult student in the past, and in that situation they will want the student to receive the support they needed. Being able to see the teacher as a person, rather than just a teacher, can also prove helpful. The student may not have the same feelings towards the teacher as they do towards their friends and peers, and tutoring can make them more comfortable around that aspect of the relationship. It is important for the student to understand that their tutor is there to help, and not to try and push them towards anything. If a student has reached a certain level of confidence in the subject, their tutor will help them to continue with the lessons to improve their skills. If a student is struggling, however, there is often no need for them to see a tutor. The student should realize that they need help in their learning, but that it is up to them to go and find the help they need themselves.Mathematics is the foundation of all life, and without knowing how to solve problems, we could never progress. Using the right tools to help a student in math can be a great benefit to them. It gives them confidence and helps them to progress, whether they are struggling or have been struggling for a long time. However, for some students, tutoring is essential, for whatever reason.

How to Prep for Regents Exams

How to Prep for Regents Exams Nearly all public high schools in New York State require their students to pass some number of Regents Exams in order to graduate with a Regents Diploma. By examining competency in the areas of English, math, science, and social studies, Regents Exams test student readiness for post-high school education, as well as provide measures upon which to gauge school district and teacher efficacy. Regents Exams are usually administered to students after completion of coursework corresponding to the tested material; for example, the geometry exam would be given to students who have completed or who are about to complete a high school geometry course. Many students find that they need to review relevant material prior to taking a Regents Exam. If you are getting ready to take one of these important exams, consider using these guidelines as you prepare for test day: 1. Take a practice test to assess your strengths and weaknesses The New York State Education Department posts past official Regents Exams on its website, and these serve as fantastic diagnostic tools for prospective test-takers. Before you begin reviewing, take the time to take one of these past tests to find out on which topics you should most concentrate your studying. Also pay attention to other issues that you may have to address as you prepare, such as being comfortable with all question formats and effectively using your time. You may wish to look into Regents tutoringas well. 2. Select and review relevant course material Chances are that you wont have enough time to review every topic you learned over the course of a year in preparation for your Regents Exam. Instead, you must choose the topics on which you wish to focus wisely. Use your diagnostic exam as a guide to decide upon which topics are worthy of thorough review and which you have already mastered. Make a list of topics you must review and plot out how you will allot your study time up until the exam. Remember to avoid cramming too many topics into short periods of time; each topic should get an amount of time proportional to both its weight on the test and its complexity. 3. Familiarize yourself with the question types Youve surely heard that practice makes perfect, and in the world of Regents Exams, this adage remains true. Regents Exams consist of both multiple-choice questions and those where you need to provide a written answer, all of which you must know how to tackle by test day. Supplement your content review by consistently completing all formats of Regents Exams questions. Make sure you take the time to go over your completed questions, comparing your answers to answer keys and making careful note of any information you did not know or omitted. Use the accuracy of your answers to gauge how your content review is going and adjust your study habits if needed. 4. Take a fewmore practice tests to identify any test-taking weaknesses or topics you may have missed Comprehensive practice tests should be the cornerstone guiding your test prep, as they can help you identify any global test-taking issues you might be having. Taking them periodically throughout your preparation can help you improve issues like difficulty managing time, test anxiety, and endurance problems, all to help you become a more effective test-taker. In addition, taking full tests can help you identify if youre missing any topics in your studying or if youre delving too deeply into certain topics. Full-length practice tests are perhaps the best way to assess your progress and to guide changes to study content and practices. Any topics you want to know more about? Let us know!
